…but no correct answers this week.  You were all very close – but it’s actually a picture of Ethan’s friend Sophia’s floatie.  Yesterday Ethan and I spent some quality time together.  We dropped Rachel off at my mom’s (thank you Nana!), went to Walgreen’s to get beach balls, had a picnic in the park, played on the playground, and then went to the water park with Jenny and her girls.  We had a blast, and I realized that it’s been a while since Ethan and I have done anything like that – just the 2 of us.  I don’t think Ethan stopped smiling the entire time we were there, and that made me smile.  The weather was perfect, the pool wasn’t too crowded, we were hanging out with good friends, and it completely wore him out for a good nap.  Thanks Crum girls for an invitation to a very fun afternoon – it’s just what we needed.

Jack (3 years old) + Ethan (2 years old) + Josie (1 year old) + Cars tent + Mickey Mouse movies = A TODDLER’S DREAM DAY!  Jack & Josie came to spend the day with us yesterday so Cara and her mom could get some things done at their new house before they move this weekend.  I knew we would have a good time, but the kids were exceptionally good.  And little Rachel was in heaven having so much activity to watch.  And the best part was that they complety wore each other out.  I had 4 kids in the house and actually sat on my couch reading a magazine for over an hour while they all napped!  I’ve never even done that with just my 2 kids here!  So, Jack & Jo, you are always welcome at the SFB house.  (Oh, and thank you for teaching us the Davis word for popsicles…popsticks!)

Tonight Ethan said his first real, unprompted prayer:
Dear Dod, tank you for dis day.  Tank you for dis day.  Tank you for Mommy and Daddy and Rachel, and tank you for ererybody.  Amen.

For a while now my Mom and I have been planning a special luncheon for some of the widow ladies at church.  We sent out really cute invitations for a sandals, soup and salad luncheon in their honor.  While we would have liked to invited all of the widow ladies, Mom’s table only seats 8 – so that was our number.  We spent all day Thursday cooking and getting things ready, and it was SO worth it.  The ladies started arriving around 11:15 yesterday and we had some appetizers set out (Central Market cheeses and crackers…yum).  After everyone got there, we took a group pictures and just told them how much they mean to us and to our church family.  Two of these ladies have buried 2 husbands, and one of these ladies has also buried her 3 children and beaten cancer…twice.  They vary in ages, interests, lifestyles, etc., but all have an undying love for God and faith in His plan and purpose.  They are such an encouragement to everyone around them, and I thank God that I know them.  I said a prayer for them and our food, and we sat them down for some chilled tomato, cucumber and cantaloupe soup.  After that, we served them 3 different kinds of cold salads and they were asking for to-go boxes!  Then we played a game that I put together and even had a prize (DSW gift certificate) for the winner.  Then we had lime sherbet with mini chocolate chips for dessert and sent them on their way.  It was very humbling to me to be able to do this small thing for them, and they were all very appreciative.  Hopefully we can make this an annual event!

(And Dad – thank you SO much for keeping the kids while we did this…you were a real lifesaver!)

Obviously I meant to post the answer and winner yesterday, but the day completely got away from me.  So, congratulations to Lynn for guessing that it’s the back of our high chair…very impressive!  I chose this one because Rachel is now big enough for the high chair.  She does have a tendency to lean to one side, but she much prefers sitting up over eating in the bouncy seat.  It’s just so hard to think that Ethan was sitting in that chair yesterday (it seems like yesterday to me).  Even though Ethan was older in this picture than Rachel is now, just wanted to pictures of both of them in the high chair:
