He is SO happy to be tall enough to do this now…

On another note, my mom had a little scare with Rachel last week.  She had Rachel with her at the church building and put her down for a nap in a crib in one of the classrooms.  A little bit later Mom walked by to check on her and not only was Rachel not in the bed, but all of her blankets were out of the bed as well.  After a mild heart attack from fear that the church baby snatcher was loose, she found my sweet little darling of a child curled up – behind the door – asleep – wrapped up in her blankets.  Apparently that crib just wasn’t going to do.

Ethan has a new love and passion – photography.  He asks me almost every day if he can take some pictures.  He usually just walks around the house snapping away, and about 40% of them aren’t blurry.  We’re trying to find a good little camera for him for his birthday, so if anyone has suggestions I would love them.

Clay (at the dinner table): Ethan, do you want to say the prayer?
E: Okay.
Clay: Make sure you say it loud so everyone can hear.
E: Okay, but I won’t say it forte.

For some reason I never posted about Libby’s third birthday.  She has always been a beautiful baby/toddler/girl, but she just gets prettier every time I see her.  I really took in the whole experience because we didn’t get to do things like birthday parties when they lived in North Carolina.  Here are a few pictures from the party:

In an effort to teach Ethan the days of the week, I’ve been asking him every morning what day it is.  This is how the conversation went Sunday morning:

Me: Do you know what day it is?
E:  Nope.
Me:  It’s Sunday!  We get to go to church today!
E:  Aw, man.  I don’t want to wear pants today.

Preschool started Thursday for Ethan and me and we both had a great day.  Ethan’s in the 3/4 class this year with Mrs. Pam, and 5 of the kids from his class last year are with him again.  I’m teaching preK again, and have 10 kids in my class.  They all had a really good day – especially considering that 5 of them have never done preschool before.  And my wonderful Mom is keeping Rachel again this year. 

This is what the conversation went like with Ethan after school:

Me:  E, how was your day today?
E:  Fine.
Me:  What all did you do in class?
E:  I don’t remember.
Me:  What did you learn?
E:  Nothing.
Me:  Well, did you have any fun at all?
E:  Sure.
Me:  Don’t you want to tell me anything about your day?
E:  They were playing play-do when I left and I didn’t get to.  
(We leave at 1:00 and don’t stay for extended day, so apparently the only thing he took from his first day was that he missed out on play-do.  Great.)
